DeDownber has a Temperate Deciduous Forest climate, which is characterized by warm and wet summers with mild and dry winters, and has prevernal, spring, summer, monsoon, autumn and winter seasons. Winds in the region are strong and the temperature is generally cold with strong variation. Precipitation is massive, and the sky is cloudy.

DeDownber sees a binary star overhead: Lujus, an average yellow star and Silon, an average red star. DeDownber also has a single moon: Himame, a small bone white moon. In the night sky, you see two celestial objects: a massive supernova that has been around for generations and an imposing nebula that has been around for decades.

Visitors are greeted with a fortified Iron fence that is 12 meters tall. The city wall protects the core 100% of the city, with 5 towers spread along the 2.20 kilometer wall.

DeDownber is governed through an emirate, where the supreme power is in the hands of an emir, who may be an absolute overlord with constitutionally limited authority. The government as a whole is seen as slipshod. Officials in DeDownber are often seen as resolute and the policies are loved. The political influence of DeDownber in the region is spreading due to riots in the region. In times of crisis, the population overcomes their differences.

DeDownber is ruled by Bishop Elaartinne Rilynneye. The Bishop has been in power for years and is loved by the people. There is hostile opposition to the Bishop and policies. The right to rule was granted by election, and that power is maintained through the writ of law.

Laws are enforced by a police, but are rarely enforced. Justice is served by a kangaroo court, with a common punishment being indentured servitude.

Around town you'll hear the following legends:
  • Many years ago, a serial killer named Kilrc roamed the town during a full moon and was drawn towards those that wronged others. Folks say that if you touch him, you will be stricken blind.
  • Way back when, the constable of North Kamwell thrived. Things were always nice, but one day an evil devil named Tilg slayed a local hero. The constable tried to kill Tilg, but failed miserably. Along came a hero named Grumgar Saltsmith, who was a skilled storyteller. Grumgar had an idea to slay the devil by making a wager with Tilg. When Grumgar Saltsmith faced the devil, Grumgar Saltsmith killed the devil.
  • In the days of yore, a dragon named Tun hunted the field. They say that if you touch him, you will be killed.
  • Legends tell of Balmir's Cat, a cursed cat with the knack to find any item. It was last seen years ago.
