Gardenfalls is governed through an emirate, where the supreme power is in the hands of an emir, who may be an absolute overlord with constitutionally limited authority. The government as a whole is seen as the pinnacle of inefficiency. Officials in Gardenfalls are often seen as willing to look the other way for the right price and the policies are mocked. The political influence of Gardenfalls in the region is negligible due to riots in the region. In times of crisis, the population rallies behind its leaders.

Gardenfalls is ruled by Archbishop Poder Bregfury. The Archbishop has been in power for decades and is praised by the people. There is violent opposition to the Archbishop and policies. The right to rule was granted by hereditary succession, and that power is maintained through random violence.
